Letting storytellers tell their stories

Transparency is Key

One of the things that I want to change differently is being more transparent about my scheduling/staffing to explain further my roles and responsibilities, internally and externally. I have an investment into many personal and professional endeavors. Sometimes that investment is not transparent and I wanted to begin to express it visibly. I have made some changes to my outward appearance, too. That might come in another picture but that also has an impact on me mentally, too. Also, within my current position, this year, in collaboration with our events manager and facilities manager, we are facilitating meetings with all of our head coaches to express both expectations as well as roles and responsibilities. This is my fourth year and many of my responsibilities are sometimes routine but not done in communication and in collaboration. This gives me the opportunity to express timelines and deadlines but also gives structure to why/how I am doing things that impact their programs as well as their student-athletes. The last change that I am doing is tagging student-athletes on social media posts, should they agree to it. I have found in research and in conversation with our colleagues that in talking about personal branding that this allows that message to be more personalized rather than institutionalized.
